fd, do you find the Bible logical?
Quick, someone pass the popcorn and coke!!

some bibles use the term "worship" when refering to jesus...at times people did fall down and bow to him........this doesn't show he was god!
the greek term; proskeyneo, means to prostrate oneself, to bow down and show honour.
now, this was done for jehovah.....and his representatives....jesus israelite kings and priests....but for the honour of jehovah not as creature worship which even angels would refuse.. also i studied the non-biblical early church gospels which really does show a slow decline over 150 years, into the trinity as the watchtower claims...........although i still hate the watchtower society at least i learnt something that wasn't a lie..
you are aware of how the wt has twisted the scriptures in the Bible correct, especially those concerning the diety of Christ?
Jesus was on a diet?! Sorry, just couldn't resist Seriously real one - can you prove ABSOLUTELY that the rest of the Christian church hasn't twisted the scriptures to suit its own ends?

They don't look like much but boy they can move!
dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
Good day to all!
CoCo, I never even noticed the juxtaposition there! Perhaps you now envisage me sitting in a deckchair or sun lounger at the side of the road?! 'Unpack' in the way I used it means to talk something through and try to understand what is causing the 'problem' or why I'm reacting the way I am - then try to come up with ways to improve the situation. But I'll try and stay away from busy roads for now!! I don't know whether the cough is better or worse today - its gone very dry and tickly but I feel fine otherwise
Experienced 'Christian love' from certain folks at church this morning when they discovered what I've been doing the past two weeks! I almost felt like saying to them "ok - YOU give me a job, YOU pay my bills then!" - wait till they find out I'm applying for a job at a bookmakers (gambling!) shop, that'll raise a few eyebrows if I get it lol!
I'm having roast chicken for lunch its a while since I ate 'proper' food - and one chicken will feed me for 3-4 days! Good value
Have a great day all!
once again i'm in a philosophical mood: .
we spend our time in avoiding death as though the absence of being was our primary reason or motivator and yet our mere existence is clearly not fulfilling in and of itself (for a nightmare example ask yourself- would you rather die or live in a fully conscious state but be totally paralysed and unable to communicate.
if existence alone is not enough yet we will give almost anything to continue to exist what is it that we are actually aiming for?
"Absurd!" says Qohelet "Everything is utterly absurd!!"
We can't make sense of it - we can either endure every moment or really experience it - the choice is ours
.and they got things ready for the passover.
21 while they were eating, he said: "truly i say to you, one of you will betray me.
27 for which one is greater, the one reclining at the table or the one ministering?
I raised this with the JWs I studied with. They told me that the Passover meal is split into two parts, Judas was present for the first part but had left by the second part which is classed as being the 'important bit' for Christians.
Doesn't matter either way to me but I suppose for the JW it raises the question of who is classed as 'annointed'.
now i lay me down to sleep,.
i pray the lord my soul to keep.. if i should die before i wake,.
i pray the lord my soul to take.. .
I used to pray that prayer at night too CoCo
This one in the mornings:
A ngel of God,
my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day,
be at my side
to light and guard,
to rule and guide.
i read mere christianity.. .

One more thought - Lewis faltered in his faith when his beloved wife died and wrote about it in his classic book on grief. He railed against a god who would so capriciously give such great joy (late in Lewis' life) only to take away after much pain and suffering. I admire his honesty and the way he did not swallow Christian rhetoric whole, but examined it in the light of rationality and real life.
BizzyBee - I think that nails the whole point of his writings. He wasn't writing so much about what to believe, rather how we interact with and apply our beliefs to life. He showed (against the Christian convention of his time) that it is ok to question and dissect one's beliefs, to shout at God 'WHY?' even to become disenchanted with Him, and yes, disbelieve alltogether - and life will go on, you won't be struck by a lightning bolt! For me he's writing from a slightly existentialist perspective - possibly why he's so popular among Christians today who are searching for experience rather than dogma/ritual.
Hence, anyone who reads his works looking for serious apologetic and doctrine will be disappointed.
my neice who had cancer died at 3:00 a.m. my sister just called and told me.
i'll put up the obituiaries when it's posted.
no need for responses.
My condolences to you and all the family. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers
Here's the website of the 'Restored Church of God' - these are the ones who have kept to Armstrong's original teachings after the big split - an event which they refer to as fulfillment of the prophecy in Thessalonians of 'the great apostasy'. They believe that it was a cleansing and restoration of the true church.
They do seem to lean heavily on Daniel and Revelation for their 'prophecies'

Note - the 'Plain Truth'magazine is now mainstream Christian in content and perfectly ok to read!
Very interesting page here describing how they believe they're different to SDA and JWs:
